Arickaree / Woodlin Basketball Comes to an End
Last weekend the Arickaree / Woodlin Indian Mustang teams traveled to Northeastern Junior College in Sterling to compete in Regional Basketball. The girls played the first game against Cornerstone Christian. At the half Cornerstone Christian led 16 to 12, but in the third quarter our girls defense was able to limit the opposing team to 2 points while scoring 8 of our own. The game came down to the last second and Abbi Miller was the hero making a layup at the end of regulation to win the game 33 to 32.
Next up for the evening the Arickaree / Woodlin boys took on the Prairie Mustangs. Our boys fought hard, but in the end Prairie came out on top 73-65 ending the boys season. Our boys finished the year with a record of 16-6. The Arickaree seniors are Kevin Ramirez, Arturo Ramos, Andy Miller, Michael McCaffrey, and Kade Dutton.
SInce our girls team beat Cornerstone Christian they were able to play in the Regional Championship game against the Fleming Wildcats. At the half the Wildcats led 29 to Arickaree / Woodlins 21 points. The second half was equally controlled by Flemming with the Wildcats winning the game 60 to 47. The Arickaree / Woodlin girls basketball seniors are Micah Koolstra, Abbi Miller, and Tabitha Arfsten. We could not be more proud of what our student athletes have accomplished this year!
