Junior High and High School Field Trip to Stratton
On Wednesday, September 19 all 7-12th graders went to Stratton to attend a Suicide Prevention and Anti-Bullying Program. Many schools like Genoa Hugo, Flagler, High Plains, Cheyenne Wells, and Stratton attended this as well. They had a guest speaker, Fabian Ramirez, who is a renowned anti-bullying speaker and drug prevention specialist. Bully prevention is very important to Fabian because he was bullied in middle school and he knows the psychological impact that bullying can have on students. He started off by talking about his own experiences of being bullied and how he handled it. He also talked to all the students about being able to talk to people who can help them when they are going through rough times. What I got from the speaker is that someone who hurts others has been hurt by someone else. I also know that if I am ever going through hard times, I will always have people that will be willing to help me get through it.
