Arickaree FFA Travels to National Convention and Earns Silver in Agronomy
The Arickaree FFA Chapter traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana this past week to compete in the National Agronomy Competition. The students that traveled were the sophomore boys, and the agronomy team consisting of Tyler Schneider, Tyson Schneider, Alan McCaffery, and Elijah Myers. The group spent the first day in Lexington and Louisville Kentucky, touring Church-Hill Downs, Louisville Slugger Museum, and Horse Stud Farms. The next day, the group traveled to Corteva Pioneer, observing how Apache Sprayers are made, and eating at Mr. McFadden’s restaurant of choice, Edwards Drive-In. Students were encouraged by their business teacher to try a Pork Tenderloin Sandwich since it is the most famous sandwich of the state of Indiana. Spoiler Alert the students thought it was overrated. On the third and fourth day of the trip, the Agronomy team competed in the National Competition, earning a Silver Award as a Team. As for individual awards, Elijah Myers received Gold, Alan McCaffery received Silver, Tyson Schneider received Silver, and Tyler Schneider received Bronze. As for the sophomores, the boys were amazed by the massive expo hall and mega mall, coming home with more clothing and items than they had brought. The students had a great experience!
